Our local feed store had the chicks all mixed up. One of my kiddos picked the chick out and we can not figure out its breed. It is slightly smaller than the rest of the other chicks too! (Part of the reason my youngest picked it out.) View attachment 1688344 View attachment 1688345

What is the comb type? It looks like a bantam. Could be a OEGB.

Australorp maybe? When I was little we got an australorp chick that was smaller than all the other chicks (a runt?). She was black like that, but grew up just fine. Yours looks like it has a bit of brown in the fluff though, so not sure what that means, if anything.

Hm, Easter Egger? I picked up a Prairie Bluebell Egger today (leghorn/Araucana cross) and it looks almost identical. Tiny too! I asked the guy to give me the biggest of the bunch and it was still just a tiny little thing. Bigger than a bantam though.
