Which should i get?? There is lots of debate between (standard) Cochins VS (standard) Orpingtons.
I plan to get chickens next year in spring, a mixed flock of docile chickens, and am deciding between:
White or Blue\black\splash Cochin
OR a Lavender Orpington

Please give me any thoughts or reviews on these two breeds!!!
Any and all information is incredibly useful!!
thank you :)

I've never kept lavender orpingtons but I've kept buff orpingtons and they are friendly and good layers!

@black_cat I agree!! Blue and splash birds are absolutely beautiful!!
@chickenlittle21 thank you for saying so!!
the other chickens i will be getting includes a buff orpington AND a bantam frizzle cochin(pekin) (not including the other 7 chicks from diff. breeds)

Since you are planning on a mixed flock, get both. Good luck and have fun...

I had my first flock around 50 years ago. I have had several different breeds over the years. Years ago I raised Buff Orpingtons for our local 4H kids to raise and show. I don't have them anymore. I did some experimental breeding's too some years ago. Everyone is different. Get what you want and again, good luck and have fun...

Maybe go on a site like, https://www.mypetchicken.com/chicken-breeds/which-breed-is-right-for-me.aspx and use their breed selection tool. There are other sites and I think most hatchery sites have them. You may get a recommendation that might surprise you.
