Breed???

Nope, those legs are yellow.

I agree she looks like a Rock. Orpingtons are very rounded and fluffy, this girl's tail set isn't Orpington at all.

Rocks are great backyard birds, they're probably better layers than Orpingtons, so you may be happier with a more common breed.

My Barred Rocks started between 19 and 22 weeks, but they matured in the middle of summer. The shorter days of fall make pullets take longer to start laying, since egg production is directly tied to the amount of daylight hours.

Rocks are far better layers than Orpingtons. I've raise several colors of English Orpingtons, and they barely lay 2-3 eggs a week. You'll be much happier with Rocks.

Help please. I am getting light baby blue Extra Large eggs. To large for my Americana, & the breeder said he bread her & would lay dark green eggs , medium size. Could it be my big fluffy white chicken that everyone told me was a Rock? I'm so confused

Where did you get the white one? Do you know what hatchery she came from? Its possible she is an Easter Egger, but doesn't show any of the more common Easter Egger traits. Such as dark legs, pea comb, and a beard and/or muffs.

My thought is it's the Easter egger. Try confining her for a day or so and see what she lays. None of those other girls strike me as a colored egg layer right off, but I guess they can surprise you, especially when dealing with mixed breeds.

My local farm feed store. They said different than is, checked with you guys onnBYC this summer & now don't know.
