No blue eggs, but if you are interested in blue eggs, try getting breeds like Cream Legbar, Ameraucana, or Prairie Bluebell Eggers. All great layers and friendly chickens!

You can get them at Hoover’s Hatchery or Murray Mcmurray but Murray doesn’t have Prairie Bluebell eggers.

I got several pullet chicks from our local tractor supply, 2 of which were Easter eggers. I’m convinced the 2nd is a roo, but now I’m not sure they are Easter eggers. Our previous Easter eggers had the chipmunk cheeks and different coloring. Could this be a speckled Sussex? Maybe I need some education on the term Easter egger? I’ve been reading that it’s a gene, but how do you know if the ones you have will lay the blue eggs? Thank you in advance for any advice and education!
First 4 pictures are of “Friendly Girl” and the last 4 pictures are of the suspected roo. Both were purchased the same day and supposedly the same age. He is much larger and has a larger comb and waddle, legs are bigger, and he’s taller.

Easter Egger isn't a gene, they are a mixed breed that has the potential to have the gene for blue eggs. In the past, easter Eggers were ameraucauna or araucana mixes (in north America). With the introduction of cream legbars to north America those are starting to be used in the creation of easter Eggers too.

Like others have said, if you're looking for blue eggs I'd recommend cream legbars. I chose a cream legbar when we were deciding on breeds because they are autosexing (you can tell males from females at hatch based on feather down color, almost no chance of an accidental rooster) and lay blue eggs.

On the bright side, speckled Sussex are very sweet birds in my experience. We had two in our first flock and they were very friendly and personable.
