Two beautiful young roos showed up at our fertilizer company so we brought them home! Very friendly and eating from my hand. Just starting to test me with a little aggression, but nothing I can’t handle. I’m concerned that they’re so much bigger than their ladies, and am not sure what breed they are……..

Please tell me you quarantined before they were added to your flock.
Yes, each one actually spent 3 weeks in a pen inside their larger pen before I let them interact gradually. Some of the larger ladies actually let the roos know they weren’t gonna be “manhandled”- lavender orpington, leghorn mix, gold laced cochin, and reds—so the young boys still aren’t having too much luck with mating them 😅. They’re able to mate the americaunas with no problem. I really want to get some Brahma hens for them.

Thanks so much for your reply 😎

The roos pen was in the hens pen for three weeks? Unfortunately, if that's so, that's not quarantine. Let's hope they're healthy. :]
