I was wandering what breed of duck lays the most, what duck has the most meat, and what duck has alot of both. Thanks for any Advice!!!!

Of the pure breeds, you want Khaki Campbell, Welsh Harlequin (is a Khaki Campbell derivative), or Indian Runner for the most eggs. There are a few hybrid breeds which lay as well (some say better), but they do not breed true, so you would have to reorder every couple of years to keep your production levels up.

Meat birds...there are several breeds, but I've heard Muscovies are the tastiest. Pekins, Rouens, and Saxonies come to mind for size.

Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks has a nice breakdown of the breeds and their pros and cons.

Silver Appleyards hands down to get the best of the egg and meat worlds for ducks. We have Lhaki and SA both. The SA are a meat breed who also lays well. khakis lay wonderfully, but only dress out as a small roaster.

If you want both lots of meat and lots of eggs, your best option is Silver Appleyards.

I had Pekins, which are great meat birds and mine were good layers, but the breed is not know as an egg layer. Still, you might get lucky.

Pekins are ready to butcher at 8 weeks. Appleyards take 2 weeks longer and have a leaner carcass.
