Breeder quality vs Show quality

From my point of view "show quality" should mean a bird that posesses type, size, colour & condition that would make it worthy of entering in a show with a reasonable expectation of being competitive.
When I once complained to the moderator/owner of a well known internet poultry auction site about the obvious lack of quality of a bird being advertised as show quality. I was told that in his opinion a bird with 2 feet & some feathers was show quality as you could show it if you wanted to.
I suspect birds described as show quality could fall anywhere between those extremes.
As to "breeder quality, I've seen that description attached to birds that appeared to be at least a reasonable starting point for a breeding program and to birds suitable for soup.
What's the bottom line? Caveat emptor-let the buyer beware.
