I would like to breed ameraucanas. What does one do about the roosters? Course I want a couple/few for breeding purposes, but is there a way to control how many roosters hatch? I am not into butchering and I know ameraucana roosters are very aggressive. Yet I don't have the heart to kill off baby chicks. Any resources that will point me in the right direction?

Not much you can do, honestly. More like nothing.

It's been suggested that a cooling period and/or incubating them slightly cooler will kill off some male embryos. I've found this really hit or miss, when I've used eggs that I knew got cold and when I've incubated a bit cold in the past.

You will get males, and you will need a plan for what to do with them. Some people with large snakes will take live chicks of certain ages. You need to be able to sex them at hatch or shortly after though, and I don't know if you can do that with Ameraucanas.

If you have a processing facility, you could take them in to have them butchered. You could try to find someone to contract with that would like to eat them, but I wouldn't hold out much hope for that.

Sell unwanted ones off craigslist. Quick way to sell them is sell them cheap $5.00. Someone will want or want to eat them.
