i just day before yesterday bought a pair of silver bantam pheonix chickens from the exotic sale. the hen has layed two eggs for me already. can someone tell me anything about breeding this breed? thanks. cole.

Contact Boggy Bottom Bantams, he raises them and can tell you more about them. I have 3 young ones from him and 2 red pyle phoenix roosters from another breeder.

Do you have any specific questions or are you just wanting general info?

I can tell you that with phoenix or with any longtail breed, you have the keep them in raised or deep bedded pens to keep their tails out of the mud if you intend on them getting long tails. Also if you have more than just a hen or two in the pen with them, it's likely that they will step on his tail feathers and break them off. If you want good tails, it's best to keep a roo by himself and just put hens with him long enough for him to breed them, keep him in a clean pen, and give him a good diet with protein boosters to help his tail feathers grow longer.
