Breeding Blue to Wheaten

one thing for sure... dont allow for this Black copper marans look a like culls(F1s) or Back cross ones(once you go back to wheaten parrents) to mate with other black copper marans this will only hurt the breed and we will hear more stories how wheaten marans still poping out of nowhere when both parents are BCM are unrelated, seems like alot of people did that cross(BCM x Wheaten Maran) and let those culls lose and allowed them breed with their regular BCM stock, These culls would be good for other projects like Olive Eggers sires or Dames.(crossing them with Ameraucanas to produce Dark Olive Eggers)

oh thats a really great idea because im getting blue ameraucanas to breed with marans to make olive eggers too.

What happens if you cross a blue ameraucana to a blue wheaten AM? I want to add characteristics of the blue (from BBS) AM line to make the blue wheaten AM line better.

Same as you would expect if you cross Blue Ameraucana with another Blue Ameraucana that is 25% of chicks will hatch Splash looking(solid splash, like regular solid splash from true breeding BBS line) 25% all black chicks(with cream underbelly) 50% all blue chicks... but why? well Extended Black(from BBS) is dominant to the wheaten gene(from blue wheaten) making the chicks look all Extended black(or spalsh or blue)

I want to know if I can cross BBS to wheaten/blue wheaten to get a certain trait from the BBS into the wheaten/blue wheaten. The trait is not color. Is this crossing even worth trying? I'd be willing to work with a few generations to achieve it.
