Breeding Buff Chantecler Bantams

Aren't Chantecler chicken supposed to have a Cushion Comb? The males in the pictures have clear wattles and rose comb(albeit small one due to them being small)

Cushion comb is the result of a Rose Comb and Pea Comb mutation combined, this produces a bird without wattle and cushion comb

Yes, Chanteclers are supposed to have a Cushion comb, but it looks to me like those do

I know pea comb reduces wattle size, but I've seen plenty of photos of Brahma roosters with proper pea combs, who do have visible wattles of a size similar to what those Chanteclers are showing (proportional size, since I was looking at photos of large-fowl Brahmas but bantam Chanteclers).

And the wattles on those Chantecler roosters look smaller than the wattles of a Rock or Wyandotte rooster, and much smaller than the wattles of a Leghorn type rooster. So the wattle size is definitely reduced, even though the males do have visible wattles.

Don't look like cushion comb to me, Brahma for reasons unknown to me(perhaps an allelic pea comb mutation) have rather large wattles, but Oriental birds with Pea comb or Cushion comb lack wattles completely

When I look at the Chantecler pictures on feathersite, I see some roosters with wattles and some without. https://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/CGA/Chant/BRKChanticler.html

And I found photos here too:

with wattles visible on the second Buff Bantam rooster.

I can certainly understand that no wattles would be better for a cold-weather breed, but it looks like the breed does include some males with wattles, and just having wattles does not prove that pea comb is missing.

Wattles would be detrimental in a cold hardy breed, since we are dealing with two mutations(R and P) that segregate independently you will get P/p+, R/R and P/P, R/r+ and p+/p+, R/R combs, specially when creating new colors(due to the need to outcross to bring the color) this happens also with other cushion comb breeds like the Red Shoulder Yokohama, I've seen them with Pea comb and with Rose comb.

Buff Chanteclers are a very new variety, and comb type is one of the areas that needs improvement. I am getting both cushion combs and rose combs from my breeding pairs currently. I believe I do have pea comb genes in at least some of my birds' genotype. This is one of my culls from this year.
