How are the hatches on Buff Leghorns going this year?Any updates? I have out about 30 chicks with a few more batches set in the incubator. Here is a nice even Buff cockerel I am using in the breeding pen.He is a rare colored bird being very sound in tail and sickles feathers,no off color, all one buff shade to the skin.I hope I get many

more like him.

I will try to get an updated picture of the birds I hatched from Hannah's eggs. They are very hard to get to stay still!!!!

7 chicks about 3 weeks old, I think 3 cockerels and 4 pullets.

I think I have around 15-20 eggs due to hatch tomorrow. And two broodies sitting on around 15 eggs each. I must say they are the most protective broodies ever! The one pullet drew blood!

That is very interesting!! I imagine you must mean a nest such that all the eggs are forced to stay right under the hen, I assume in more than one layer?

I think 15 is OK if you give them a good nest that isn't to big.

The two broodies of the batches are leghorns. I've had a broody silkie hid away and hatch 19 chicks out of 21 eggs. Dont ask me how she managed to keep them all warm!
