Breeding cage height question

My cages are about 19-20 inches tall. My 17 inch orpington rooster was able to crow and breed in the cage just as easily and willingly as with no height restrictions

Watching my boys in action, I would have thought that a low roof would impede them. I guess they're more adaptable than I'd thought.
