I have some of her birds. And I was at her place in Florida and saw the rooster. He was a big boy. I know that is not the standard. but I think she is doing a good job of bringing back a good meat bird the way they used to be.

I do not breed them but have been wondering if a white rock from a good line could be used to decrease the heavy coloring in the Dels from Kathys line. My hens are pretty but the roo I had, had a wing problem and loads of extra color. He just up and died on me this early winter but the hens are laying and look good.

I am by far no expert on Delawares. I am just starting in on this breed. But I do know a good meat bird. And I like this birds. I will put some pictures on and people with knowledge of the breed can give their opinion.

How are her rocks and NH maybe a new line might be something

Her Rocks seem to be pretty good (at least what they are publishing.)



I have to say Kim's (caypayvalleychick's ) birds are gorgeous. I got a couple of her culled pullets and compared with my hatchery dels they are awsome.

Bit too much color on the back but big and beautiful.

Im so jealous.

I am following all the posts and am amazed at the great discussion going on! Thank you everyone for sharing their experiences! We are set to have our first hatch (F1) this Sunday (Jan 25). We are very excited!
From our training through Sustainable Poultry Network and judge Jim Adkins, always breed for type and then work on color. Regarding the 12lb rooster, yikes! Way over weight and those poor hens lol!

Hi! Wanted to let you know that there is a great show going on this weekend, in Modesto. Saturday is the best day to go see the birds. I'll be there. It's worth the drive and you can meet other breeders and judges there.
