So I have a big pen with BBS. However, I had a few silkies that are white, buff and a couple partridge and have a spare pen . Which colors would they phenotypically produce if I had buff x white or buff x partridge or partridge x either/ both other colors. I know the genotype will not be pure but I just want to now the phenotype possiblities and if there is a combination that would work best.

Thanks

Silkies are recessive white- that means if you cross them with another phenotype you should not get white; unless the nonwhite bird is a carrier of recessive white. Then you get more white.

My best guess since i do not know what phenotype is hidden under the white. I am assuming the silky is black under the white.

buff x white = black with buff on anterior end of the bird

buff x partridge or partridge x buff = smutty dark buff

white x buff = black with white on anterior end

white x partridge = black

partridge x white = black

thanks for the reply...

So when we say buff x white vs white x buff.... which would be the rooster and which would be the hen? (the first variable or the second)?
