Breeding for Opal Cream Legbars

Okay so I have an Opal CL roo. I bread him to standard CL hens. How many generations will it take to see opal chicks? I held back daughters and the lightest Cockrell from that breeding. Next steps....give me your thoughts.

I believe Opal in Legbars is the same pattern as Cream but with the lavender gene expressed. Lavender is autosomal recessive, so your Opal rooster is pure for the lavender gene in order to express it and so all of his offspring inherit a copy from him. If you cross any of his daughters back to him, then about half of the resulting chicks should be Opal. 🙂
