BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

That's true and I never delivered groceries either....Linda, you are going to die a very wealthy woman because even you won't be able to take it all with you!!!

Just imagine...some poor kid schlepping groceries all over the area, just to get a buck from "MS. La. Tight-Wad of the Year".!!! You're lucky they don't come by your house and steal all your chickens.!!!

At least they could have chicken dinner....they might even rob your veggie garden. Be good to those hard workin' kids...

Yeah, yeah, very wealthy. I got $80,000 inheritance when my Mama died. Four months later after paying all my debts. I gave it to my 3 kids. Over half went to the house I'm living in with my middle DD Aimee and her family. I even transferred the land to them to pay for moving the new mobile home here. My paycheck comes on the 3rd and I never have surplus. If a buck is all I have, a buck is what the fellow gets.

We're on uncharted ground now....what I want to post, I will have to send by Email and you can let me know what your opinion might be ...here...in good taste of course.

I remember I subbed to this awhile because someone was going to post a lonk to a poulardizing video. Did the link ever get posted? I can't seem to find it.
I'm caponizing some 5 wk olds this week but can't tell sex for sure. I thought I'd go ahead and poulardize (is that even the correct term?) the ones that turn out to be girls since I won't know until I get in there.
Can anyone help with a link to a video of it?

It's my understanding that it will be put on youtube at some point. Also I'm told it will likely never be on this page and if it EVER was to be posted, it would be on where the meat birds are discussed but that possibility seems very remote.

Sorry but if you can't tell gender for sure, how can you caponize?

Members of my family do both males and females and I love the meat but I'd rather just eat Dark Cornish at a reasonably mature age that to mess with 'nip/tuck' on a 3 week old chick.

I'm sometimes up to my eyebrows in human blood as part of my job so I not worried about that...But If I didn't have pretty regular access to capons and/or poulardes, I might take the time to learn the process. My Brother is here at my home now and is willing to caponize at least a few of my Dark Cornish cockerels but I think they are too old but he says it still can be done....That would ruin his short 'vacation' and I have several 'finished birds' resting comfortably in my freezer.

The american version of caponizing is to go from the left side. Females only have one ovary and it's on the left. If you see it you know to stop. My problem is that I can't have roosters crowing around here. Bottom line. Get them early enough and they never start.

It doesn't matter, just get it on youtube. We'll go there.

If it were my call, it would already be on youtube, however I'm #2 Son and even #1 son doesn't make those kind of calls. He can ask or suggest. I've seen it and it is interesting, showing the farm and their stock but about 10 or 12 minutes of the cut version is about the pullets.

Brother will be here for a few more days, and I'll try to get him to pressure dad to let him put it on Utube. That's the best I can do.
