BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

FYI - North Carolina is now requiring ALL poultry keepers to register with the state, under the guise of public safety due to AI. It is supposed to enhance communication so they can let all the poultry keepers know that there is an AI infected flock in their vicinity.
Like there has been any problem with getting that information out to the public without registering everyone's birds. And so far I've already seen too many folks that have been drinking the koolaid and thinking this is going to keep them safe. Be aware folks - if people don't fight it, this could be coming to other states next.

Soon you'll probably have to pay a state tax to keep back yard birds. They'll call it a "Permit" at first.

On a more cheerful note, here is a pic from this morning of one of my incubators.

I'm pretty sure this one is a she.

“In planning our response for highly pathogenic avian influenza, one problem we’ve come across is that we can’t protect birds that we don’t know exist,” Meckes said. “We need to know where poultry are located so we can properly protect commercial and backyard flocks."

LOL. That is one of the least honest statements I have heard today. Their efforts would be better received by me, if they were at least honest about their intentions. Does the truth matter at all anymore? You cannot trust a liar. I hope those in SC are at least honest. We will see.
They could not convince me that their best efforts are to protect my poor little birds. LOL.

I would like to meet this Meckes in person.

Typical of the government these days though. Talk down to the people as if they know nothing (which is often true, unfortunately), and lie.

Otherwise . . . . I have mixed feelings, and I am not certain where I stand. I figured this was coming, but I have not thought it through.

The only thing the government will protect will be there worthless backsides. What i expect to happen will be the immediate destruction of all known poultry in a radius they define.

The pictured black bull dog is a staffirdshire terrier. I see not Rottweiler in it. I have raised game bred pits. Blue pits and amer staffirdshire terriers. I've owned one Rottweiler. A very impressive breed of dog. I bred him to one of my pit bitches one time about 20 yrs ago. A very good cross.
All in all I'd have to say the Rottweiler is the best breed of them all. Even though I've been a pit bull man since I was 16 yrs old.

Hugh Norman a master breeder of game fowl once said, battle fowl aren't brood fowl. And brood fowl aren't battle fowl. .......He never fought his lines of brood stock and never used his battle fowl in the brood pen.

Another words. You keep your brood stock pure and generally tightly inbred to where the genetics aren't greatly diversified. Like produces like. Everything produced comes typical with very little variances.

Then you cross your tightly bred lines to produce your sporting or production lines. The "hybrid vigor" is produced from crossing lines that have proven to be compatible

This method of breeding proves true in most any form of animal husbandry .

Thank you for your valued information. We DO appreciate discussion of hybrid vigor and many other (almost any other ) types of breeding but we DO NOT shave too close to the topic of combat between animals of the same species, meant for entertainment or cash rewards. Our discussions are about POULTRY and about dogs, jack asses and other animals/live stock that will help to protect our chickens, rabbits and other animals that are too fragile or timid to protect themselves.

Thank you for understanding

RON
