BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

why? are you showing? are you eating their combs?

No, nothing like that. I just like them.

I wouldn't exclude Bane only based on his comb. He's also Nn (would prefer a NN, homozygous for naked gene, in a flock rooster), and appears to have more of a mix/hybrid thing going on (as indicated by the rose comb and the different growth curve shape) - not sure about the predictability of his line down the road. I.e., Tank's fast growth is likely genetic and would pass on to offspring, Bane's COULD be a hybrid effect that would possibly not breed true. At least that's my thinking.

But I haven't decided yet, won't for a while yet...

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

No turkey served here. Four roasted capons for our table because we have family from Kentucky and Ariel's gentleman friend to feed.

We generally eat later so I'm going to have to find something to 'steal' out of the kitchen....Big ol hunk of German Choc. cake should fill the bill.

I have that exact miter saw - but when I say on the diagonal, I mean LONG ways, over the entire 12 ft length. I had to do it with a straight edge and a circular saw, and didn't quite get them as even as I'd like...

Ugh...

That's why I have templates - the cuts for our a-frame houses exceed the capacity of a miter saw, so it's trace the template and cut with the circ. saw.

Sounds pretty darn tasty! Happy Thanksgiving!

We had dinner at our neighbor's house with a huge group of strangers and a ton of extremely good food, and departed with a huge group of new friends and over-stuffed bellies. Not a bad way to spend the evening.

German chocolate is my favorite cake, but w/ home made frosting not the canned "german chocolate" frosting that is just plain nasty. (even though my home made generally had a scrambled egg piece or two in it

@Kev Remember my Bielefelder/Silkie mixes? And you question about whether they're showing any barring? Um....yeah....they most definitely are now.

This is my favorite cockerel of the two, and the one I am most definitely keeping. Notice how comfortable he seems to be in my hand? Yeah...he'll stay snuggled against me all day if I let him.

And it seems that the barring in the two girls is much less pronounced than in their brothers.

Is it larger now or the size of the pic?
