BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

Do I see some Buff Brahma's in your flock? That's one of the breeds I've been coveting for a while and trying to decide whether or not to add them to my motley crew.

Yep! I will akways have Brahmas! They r one of my favorite breeds! They r so sweet and I would recommend them to anyone!

I have a Canadian friend who has buckeyes from a pretty good breeder. Good egg layers but not much as a meat or dual purpose bird. They are known for dark meat if that is what you prefer. She doesnt seem that impressed with them. I seen pictures she sent me and they are beautiful but I could see they are not a full bodied breed. Do you have any blue orpingtons? Try a few and see what you think. Much different than a standard sized orpington. Notice the thickness of the leg shanks. Its really a good stealthy bird. Tasty also and good egg layers. Roosters for me have been very calm.

Well, okay then. I don't like speckled sussex. They are cannibalistic and egg eaters. They dont get very big and really hogs at the feed trough. Enough said about those stupid birds. They were all put in the soup pot!

My Speckled Sussex have been frustrating me - since they were babies, in fact. They're just... irritating. Agree with the hog thing, and they are small, and they were more susceptible to Cocci than I have experienced with my other chicks. And they escape their paddock constantly. I decided to give them a chance and let they got to POL and put them with a lonely Naked Neck rooster (and maybe get some mottled carrier babies). But they have never had names and are always on double secret probation. I'm always on the verge of deciding to cull... They may be soup before too long.
