I don't know exactly what you did when you had your buck collected, don't really want to, but in the future you might want to try using a doe in heat to tease him instead.

@CanadianBuckeye My father had a serious broody jap bantam that hatched out his rir. If he didn't leave a nest of eggs for her to set on she would disappear and return with chicks, rir crosses. Never in the winter though.

It would be a miracle if she survived, going down to 0 oF later this week. I think she must have been caught by a coyote while she was broody, or she certainly will be- she would be easy pickings. I've seen absolutely no sign of her.
On the plus side (well sort of, I don't want chicks right now!) another Cornish has gone broody, she's a nice broody and doesn't peck me when I toss her outside off the nest box. At least she's chosen a nest box.

All jokes aside, I get the same thing from some bucks. I think they are pretty good at figuring out males from females. It's a dominance thing. They don't bother girls because they already assume that they are dominant over them. In their minds there is one thing they can do to another male that is the ultimate display of dominance. (Goats are so nasty.) If you watch two bucks, they will walk up and blub at each other and try to mount. If equally matched there is usually a fight at this point. If one feels outclassed from the start, things might not go well for him. Just your basic goat psychology. Just don't drop anything and you will be fine.
