I remember a lady who had large silkies, I can't remember her byc name, I think I may have pm'ed her some time back not sure if I still have the pm. I think she was from somewhere north central though.

From who did you get your large fowl White Chantecler? I'm circling the breed after leaving the Sussex due to storm damage at our poultry yard.
We need rebuild first but now looking to the future.

Apologies, but I can't seem to recall where I saw it/who posted it - can anyone suggest where I can find large Silkies?

The ones I got from TSC were huge for silkies, if you want to see pics let me know, don't know if they are all like this from them. They do not sell silkies per say, but mixed lot bantams, i just asked for only ones with five toes an they looked at me like I had two heads, then dumbfounded when they notice the ones with five toes....They laid earlier then any chicken I've ever had, and are still laying this cold winter with no suplimental light. Nice big eggs, almost every day, probably crossed with leghorns at some point at whatever hatchery they come from. They are dumb though, took forever to get them to go in the coop at night, I get home late, rain, freezing rain, snow, dumb things huddled in a pile outside in the mud, surprised they didn't die. Anyways here's a pic of a rooster

Silkie 40 weeks, giant and langshan 27 weeks, cross 22 weeks. Giant was huge but not much on breast, they don't fill out until they are older, should have seen his feet, huge! lika dinosaur! He was my smallest white giant cockerel, I read the slowest growing lankeist giants end up being the biggest, but his leg color wasn't as good as the other two, one huge, one lanky not as huge but tall, not deciding right now, probably better to keep two cocks anyway just wish I had more than two pullets, I hate hawks...Dressed for freezer; giant- 5lbs 10oz, langshan- 4lbs 9oz, wellie/ee- 3lbs 14oz, silkie- 3lbs 12oz. All fed the same. Not any significant growth, but further feeding wouldn't have added much, already in the negative I'm sure.
Hoping the giants dress out over ten lbs when fully grown, won't be butchering the two left, have to wait for capons this this coming yr.

You don't happen to know or could hazard a guess as to what hatchery TSC would have gotten the Silkies from up your way?
