I've always thought they were ugly now I think they look pretty cool! I'm ordering naked necks soon, just haven't decided from where I want to order them from yet. Don't plan on having a lot of them but between their utility combined with French chef's saying they are the #1 best tasting chicken in the world, I'd like to see what they can do.

Did her chick look anything like these two? The top one reminds me the most of an ostrich, and the bottom one...love her attitude.

Such "Tude" and all boy! lol lol lol Love my naked necks, only chickens I have besides my real nakeds.

Actually those fibro ones of yours is why I decided I want to order some NN. I have a new lead on ayam cemanis near me. Someone doing a early hatch asked if I wanted some, said they want to get rid of them quick, cheap, just a test hatch. Maybe I'll have some fibro NN by next yr.

I would try and take ur naked necks and those Ayam cenamis and see how they turn out

For the first time in a long time I'm going to do things the easy way....I'm not setting up breeding pens. I'm just going to hatch eggs from some of my favorite girls based on which boys I've seen mating with them. All of my guys have their favorites that they mate with over and over again, so I'm taking a gamble and will wait to see if my hunches turn out to be true. I know for a fact that my three favorite boys....Shiloh (NN), Hansel (Bielefelder) and Copper (Ameraucana+) have mated with my selected girls, so I should get some fun and nice large birds out of the hatch.

I'm also throwing in a couple EE eggs, even though I know my EE cockerel with the defective toe bred with them, along with my buttercup-combed Dorking mix. I want to see just how bad that crooked toe issue is. At worst I'll be culling early....but at least I'll know for certain.

I have decided I am going to get some. NN's as well. With all the good things people say about them how could I not?

Hopefully in the next few months I'll be shopping around for a nice trio in the Northern California area.

The only chickens I have coming, besides some CX to butcher out for some family members (and therefore don't count), are 8 Silkies for future incubators. Everything else coming is ducks, primarily Welsh Harlequins with a couple of Cayuga and Magpie hens for my husband and daughter, and American Buff geese. Mr. Bramblefir is looking forward to not having any cocks crowing.

I'm looking forward to Christmas goose, duck confit, and lots of baking with rich eggs.

I'm also going to get Muscovy eggs this weekend in exchange for 6 of my 10 month old pullets. Both of my Partridge Chanteclers are screaming balls of feathers huddled in the nestboxes, so they're going to set on the Muscovy eggs and some eggs from my Ancona ducks. The Anconas are amazing foragers, bills to the ground looking for goodies all day, and definitely something that I'd like to have more of.
