Oh good grief - you're going to get me to get these...![]()
I wonder what their disposition is like...
You know, it might actually be worth it to do a road trip to be able to get only 25...
Your fault for bringing them up in other thread hehe
that is a good point. about their dispositions.. the (slogro)CX I raised over the winter were very nice birds, extremely low aggression.. the cockerels didn;t peck at the lone pullet even at feeding time.
The crosses out of CX and NN are similarly low in aggression, so far. A 3 weeks younger chick from adjoining pen accidentally got in and they did not descend on it like most normal chicks are prone to. Interestingly, the cockerels are very calm, however the pullets are slightly more active/excitable and less "tame". Still overall pretty calm though.
The freedom and black rangers were extremely tame as youngsters to the point of annoyance.. made it impossible to do ANYTHING in their pen... once the cockerels started maturing, some of them became intolerant of any other roosters and had to be separated. They remained otherwise mellow and not flighty at all. The one rooster with some freedom blood is a nice rooster but he does get a little excitable sometimes and does like to challenge the rooster in the next pen.
So with that I'm hoping the broiler NN would be similar, due to broiler type breeding...?
are you really within driving distance to SG? we talked about meeting in AZ.. that was very tempting but was afraid to make a big promise like that. I suppose the next best thing is to find local person to split the order with, but I don't know anyone personally who might be interested.
