Well obviously something has gone wonky. I don't know what.
Second chick was shrink wrapped and had to open bator, got him out but not sure if he will make it or not.
No other pips or zips. I went ahead and candled several eggs and found 5 late quitters, then I just had to stop close the bator and will check things out tomorrow. My heart is a little broken I had such high expectations for these eggs, if only the one lives I will have to go to TSC and buy some friends for him.

Heart breaking I've been there more times then I can count w/ my Brinsea.

Which cock covered Clara Belle? I'm assuming one of you fine NN's and if so, I'll be especially excited to see how the offspring turn out.

I'm a little late to the show, having just made final selections and seeded my pens, each with one cock and between 4 and 7 hens. That should produce enough fertile eggs for all my maniacally chronic brood hens to have their jets cooled.

EDIT: I have 12 hens that will lay from 10 to 15 eggs and begin to their pugnacious sit-ins over their favorite nest boxes. It was never a surprise when the Cornish hens became intensely broody but the White Chanteclers can match them but thankfully they will lay a lot more eggs between 'heats'. It's no wonder the Cornish isn't rated better for egg production. If they weren't as they are, they could match or perhaps eclipse several of the other dual purpose hens.

Clara Bell was heavily mated by my former NN cockerel, Peta, but I've noticed lately that a few of the other boys have had their way with her too, including my Bielefelder rooster, Bosch. I love Bosch, but given both birds' intolerance for the heat out here this is NOT a good match-up. So far fifteen chicks have hatched from this clutch and it's now day 21, but Clara Bell's egg hasn't even pipped. I'm not feeling too optimistic right now. I really want to pair her up with Heisenberg, but right now he's lame and in an isolation pen after chasing massive Tubbs away from his favorite hens, and the weather is heating up quickly. I'm not sure I can work it all out logistically before the heat becomes completely insufferable for her.

Thanks...it is heartbreaking, I had such high hopes for my English Orpingtons from Bobbi. Now proud owner of $80 Crele Orpington chick. UGH

Only one lived, I ran out to TSC and grabbed 6 chicks, they only had ISA or bantams so I got the bantams, never really wanted bantams but for sure I didn't want ISA. I had to get pals for the poor chick. I will probably give them away later.
I called the man who buys fertile eggs from me and he has some chicks left he hatched from my flock. Next week he is supposed to bring me back a couple buff orpington chicks. I wished I could have some now, but he is out of town til next Saturday.

I offered $25.00 for the $26.98 with free shipping. My offer was quickly accepted on 4/4/2017 and I received the item in great condition today 4/10/2017. The item came with instructions, but I am more of a visual person since writing instructions is hard for some people. I used:

I set the controller low to go on at 99.0F and off at a High of 99.5F.
So far the swing as registered on my separate High/Low for my styrofoam incubator: 99.3F & 100.8F. I need to install a fluid type thermometer as eggs do not swing in temperature like a probe tip.
I am excited about the accuracy. I might be able to increase the lower end from 99.0F to 99.2F or 99.3F. I do not want the lightbulbs to cycle off and on a billion times.

this thermostat ...does this replace a wafer in a cabinet incubator? we have two wafers in our new used cabinet incubator.
so do I need two of these ? Put one of the top, one at the bottom? how does it work ?I'm very interested !!
