BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

Howdy folks! Nice to be back. I have a question. I have some cockerels to cull soon, and I was considering trying decapitating with a PVC cutter (non-ratcheting, of course) this time - but I couldn't remember who had posted about it. Anyone recall?

So very glad the forum is back up. The singleton Crele Orpington that hatched out of the shipped eggs is a pullet she is my avatar. She is a nice bodied bird.

@Fire Ant Farm - The Husky flexible tube cutter is available at Home Depot for 14.98. Works very well, extremely sharp. Watch your fingers!View attachment 549236

Thank you SO much!!!!! There were so many options I was getting way too confused. Do I understand correctly that you fit to curved part over the front of the neck and the blade closes from the back?

Yes, this way the blade cuts the spinal cord first, then the arteries.

Processing day is approaching for us. Looks like we'll have 4 people to process over 70 birds (12-15 weeks old). I'll take some pictures as we get closer to setup.

Never thought about the cutters, we use a very sharp axe and a wooden block platform, one quick chop.
