Breeding for taste?

raise on pasture, give lots of treats and treat them well. butcher and rest for a few days and season to taste whole cooking. Yum, works every time.

I am consider raising dorking, but after doing some research.... it will take 2 years for the dorking to fully mature. I am falling back to marans because it require less time. I may cross marans hen with dorking rooster in the future if can find one.

I've heard that too, but my Dorkings are laying eggs and look completely mature at 1 yr so I'm not sure where the 2 yr idea comes from. They're ready for slaughter at 5ish months just like all the other heritage breeds.

Just FYI, I have an extra dorking roo if you're interested. It'll cost a pretty penny to ship.​

I read from in the internet and base on the person that raise them. I will look locally here in Washington for stock. I may contact you for rooster if can't find some around here.
