Breeding Hens with No Rooster

I know a lady that breeds like 6 different breeds and she isn't allowed roosters where she lives. she has ''roomates'' in the garage and a couple rooms in the house. lots of work. but possible.

I noticed you had several cockerels. Having several roosters can cause them to be noisier than having just one. They can get each other going. I don't think a single rooster, especially if it's a calmer breed, would be as noisy.

You could always try a couple of different roosters, too, if the first one doesn't work out for you. Even within the same breed, they have different behaviors when it comes to how they interact with the hens, how protective they are or how aggressive they are with people. I'm sure some crow more and some crow less, just like some hens are noisier than others.

You could arrange something with someone who has controlled breeding program. in the past I have had people drop off hens on Friday after work and pick them up Sunday afternoon after church. Nice offspring from those matings.

I did notice the cockerels would get each other going. They all had to put in their two cents.

I read recently the larger birds have a deeper crow that may not carry as far. Kaceyx73 had a good example with cochins. Without any experience, I probably would have guessed the smaller-lunged banties would be quieter, but maybe the higher pitch carries farther. Sounds like it varies a lot from rooster to rooster and breed to breed.

Some great ideas here folks, thanks.
