I saw something about not breeding already mixed hens.. could someone shed some light on this topic? I have some mixed hens and I planned on breeding them so I could have more chickens. I don't plan on selling them or anything.

That's a very strange statement to be making by who ever wrote it. Mixed breed chickens are fine to breed and often hardier. How do they think new breeds are created?! You can breed chickens to suit your needs. Do breed your chickens - the prettiest chickens are often cross breed mutts.

That's what I was thinking! I thought it was very odd.. it was in an article about getting your hens to hatch eggs

Hello,

I agree with you 100%. They are often stronger, maybe smarter birds. Less prone to deadly illness and very pretty. At some point in time...( Only God knows when )... Mixed happened a lot and only.

Odd statement wrote above, where did you find it? Not true.
I hope this may help you and I wish you the best of luck with your future crosses!

Sincerely,
The Angry Hen
