So i have one female muscovy, shes gone broody twice now I believe and we're ready to mate her. Seeing that we don't have a male, a friend bought one over and has been here for a few days now.
They have a good enclosure including a pond and a coop. The female seems ready to mate however the male seems to show no interest in her. Is he trying to settle in to his new surroundings or?
(for a clarification, his owner has said he has been mating with all his females)

He had a harem... and you took him from it. Ducks aren't like dogs. They don't jump right in and go at it with every girl they meet. Ducks court each other, get to know each other, and he's probably bonded to another female and he's been taken from his flock of favorites and special lady. He's probably scared and he doesn't know her... it'll take a while for him to get used to her and being in a new place. If you plan on keeping him, then give them time to establish each other... if you don't plan to keep him... he's not a stud. They get emotionally attached to their girls.

Only reason my fancy went after the twins as soon as he saw them was because it was his first hormonal stage and he didnt have any control. As they get older they gain a measure of control... he would rape and plunger the twins, but would be super gentle and loving with speedy...

If you want to breed muscovies, get 2 to 3 more females and 1 male - that becomes your flock... breeding will take place without any difficulties.

If you plan to keep the male above, they'll breed eventually after he gets settled in, and gets over not having his original flock.
