Breeding my own birds advice please

[first time farmer]

Me and my girlfriend plan on moving in together in the next two years. When we move in together we will of course still have chickens. How ever I would like to Breed my own birds. I want dual purpose birds (like what I have now which are Barred Rock and New Hampshire Reds) I would like to start getting a Breeding/layer flock started now. I have had chickens for almost 4 years now but I have always bought hatchery stock and raised them my self. So any helpful hints would be great!

An incubator may help you, if you don't already have one
