Breeding Olive eggers

I bought a dozen olive eggers. The hen was a black copper maran and the cock was cream legbar. If I breed the chicks together from the hatch will the newly hatched hen lay the same color olive egg? Also what color egg would an olive egger rooster and a brown laying hen make?

If you cross your olive eggers together, half the hens will lay and olive egg and half will lay a brown egg. If you cross a OE rooster to a dark laying hen, half the hens will lay a dark olive egg and half will lay a brown egg. OE rooster to regular brown laying hen will get half olive eggers, half brown eggers.

The olive eggers only have one blue gene and can only pass that blue gene on to half their offspring.

The possible results can run anywhere from blue, green, olive, brown and even to white eggs. This is the reason that people that want to consistently make olive eggers do so by breeding a chicken with blue egg genes to a chicken with dark brown egg genes.
