Breeding Pair Question

Hello:
I have a breeding pair of red goldens, and a clutch is gettung ready to hatch. Should the make stay in the cage, or will he kill the babies? I know that when a small wren got in there, It ended up dead. Thanks.

Hello,
I always make an area that I seperate the mother and the chicks but they are still able to see the other birds. Then when I am out there feeding all my birds I let the chicks and the moms out together with the rest of them. My males have never hurt any of the chicks but some of the females that didn't hatch eggs get very upset and won't let the chicks near them so that is why I always watch them and if I leave the pen I can still see all the chicks if there is a problem. You do have to make sure that your wire is small enough so the chicks can't get out and that there is no holes that they can fall into because they will find them.
I have over 10 females that lay on their eggs with very good hatch rates and it is the best thing to sit in there and watch how the mother teaches the youngsters what to do and to watch them crawl under her is breath stopping.

Every bird is different just like people.My temminck male sat on and raises chicks with the hen.You'll just have to see how he reacts to them.My lewis silver hen also raises her chicks with the male,but don't try to touch their chicks wow do they get mean both of them.

I have them in an old screened in porch outside my door. It's a 20x 10x 6 foot high. She is nesting in a big box with straw. I put towels and carpet around the box, so if they hatch and jump, they won't get spay leg.
I was just worried that since he killed a baby wren, he might kill the little ones. Do you think they know the difference?
And, thanks for all the advice.
