Breeding Q about hens

Once a Roo is left in a cage with a hen for a couple weeks , how long will the hen stay fertile? Any sights and/or books to help with he never ending question on breeding and hatching would also be great. Thanks for all the help this sight has given in the past months. What a great community.

If a hen is left with a roo for 2 or 3 weeks, she will be laying fertile eggs. I think you have a week or 2 to collect eggs and have them still be fertile.

I read somewhere that you need to have a roo in with a hen every 4 days for fertilization.

After a roo and hen have mated, the hen can lay fertile eggs from that roo for up to 3 weeks.
