i have a 12 week old roo i seen on my hen "doing his thing".. is he old enuff to make babies? & she was housed with a roo before i put her in the main run , how long is the old roos sperm good & when will the new roos take over?

I read the old roo can last for two weeks. I would think your new roo is old enough but I'm not sure.

I highly doubt he is ready. You might get lucky and get a few chicks but I doubt it.
Oldtime breeders I know wouldn't think of breeding a year old rooster. They wait until they are two or three and in thier prime.
I believe a hen can retain a roosters fertilization for over a month. I know it is recommended that you wait a month before hatching eggs from a new mating.
I bought three straight combed hens this spring and they had been with a rosecomb rooster. I put them with a stright comb rooster and waited almost a month before hatching any eggs.
All 12 of the chicks I hatched had rose combs.
