Breeding Questions?

I have one roo and 5 hens in my breeding pen, i want to collect some fertile eggs for incubating. i,ve been watching their behavior, my roo, only mates with one gold hen. i introduced 3 new hens 2 weeks ago and he just pecks them and they run away. should i get another roo and start a trio in a separate breeding pen?

I also have a roo and five hens, and he also has selected a single mate. And she's also a golden!

Apparently this is normal, as quails live in nature in pairs that mate for life.

My new couple has become extremely aggressive towards the other hens and i've had to separate them from the others. They're upset because they want to be back with the other hens, but the single ladies seem a lot more relaxed and happy without the bully couple pecking them constantly.

I guess you'd probably need one roo for each hen you plan to breed, and keep each couple in a separate pen.

I,ve got Japanese quail. I,ve read to keep them in trios or 1 roo to 5-6 hens?
