I have a flock of blue/black and splash silkies and then I have two buff girls that I just have not been able to let go even though they are not great looking and I don't have another pen for them. Well they started laying back before I got everyone separated so I decided to hatch a few eggs and just give away any that were mixed. I obviously dont know who was laying which egg or I would have just taken them out, lol. Anyway, I got a few that were blue with like a buff tinge on them which I expected. But I got several that are partridge! How does that happen. Maybe these girls have a hidden color? Is it possible to breed buff to black or blue and get partridge? I will post pics tomorrow, but they look like little chipmunks with the stripes and all. Any suggestions. All I know as far as genetics is about blue/black/splash breeding. That is the limit to my knowledge. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
