Ok, I have 1 white, 2 black and 1 blue splash silkie. I'm not sure of the sexes yet but I was wondering - What colors would I get when I bred them? How do the colors pass on, blend, etc with Silkies?

Thanks!!

Blue X Blue will result in 50% Blue, 25% Black and 25% Splash
Blue X Splash will result in 50% Blue and 50% Splash
Blue X Black will result in 50% Blue and 50% Black
Black X Splash will result in 100% Blue
Black Bird + 1 regular Blue gene = Blue Bird + another Blue gene = Splash Bird
Splash X Splash should produce all Splash
Splash X Black should produce all Blue
Black is a Dominant Color

Not my chart above( made by fluffnstuff~fluffysilkies) but very very helpful in understanding the breeding of blue, splash, etc.!

If you breed white with the blue or black, chances are you will get a white bird or two that is masking their color -- IF the bird is dominate white. If recessive white, the black or blue will show.

At least I think that's the way it works. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

How do you know if they are recessive white? My white came from a pen with a white roo and black and white hens (so did my non-bearded black). I have no idea where my bearded black and my splash (also bearded) came from other than that they are from "brown egg-blue egg" stock and VERY pretty

The bearded black hen is a lap dog and won't leave me alone!! (haha!)
