Needs to be an Ayam Cemani roo with a leghorn hen to make a zombie.Alright, gotta admit, this has been on my mind for a while, since I first discovered the existence of the Ayam Cemani x White Leghorn 'Zombie Chickens'! They're such cool lookin critters, I honestly want to try breeding some if I can, just to see what happens!
My main question is, does it matter which breed is the rooster or hen? I've had a hard time trying to research this information. The few people I've seen with Zombie chicks appear to have Cemani Roos, and I think I saw someone somewhere was having trouble getting the dark skin/white feathering with a Cemani hen, but I cant seem to find that post again. Honestly wondering if I simply imagined it
My thing is, I can't have another roo. I'm kinda pushing it with even having one, so I've thought about getting a Cemani hen to breed with my Leghorn roo. Was just curious if anyone has any input or experience on this matter, because I think it would be a fun little project! I'm simply curious about any advice/input someone might have on this. What do yall say?
Also dropping a chick pic, just because I can

Black beak, eye trim, etc, on whiteUsually when I think of Zombies, I think pasty white, to red/purplish face, & uneven coloring. Colors being variable, messier the better. An undead look is what you want for a zombie.
Ghost is my example of pasty white face. She's like this all the time.

I breed for zombies. In Apache Oklahoma. So honestly, I think the Ayam rooster would create the best zombie chicks. But the fun thing about owning chickens is the experimentation of breeding. So I would stick with the rooster you have for now and add some Ayam hens. They very well could come out just as good!
That's more correlates to like a Ghost, or phantam though, in color.Black beak, eye trim, etc, on white

I got pearl white leghorns from Murray McMurray and white leghorns from Hoovers. The pearl White had nicer feathering as chicks, but were very similar upon being mostly grown up. I rehomed the hoovers birds, so I don't know how they laid.I am also wanting to try making Zombies. I’m looking at availability on white leghorns, are they all created equal somewhat? I was looking at McMurray Hatchery's Pearl White Leghorns, but unsure. They make them sound good anyways

They've been called Zombie chickens since they've been around. That's more correlates to like a Ghost, or phantam though, in color.
