what kind of chicken would I get if I crossed a buff orpington rooster with a white rock hen?
A white rock and buff Orpington X
They'd probably be buff, white or a combination of the two.
If the hen carries the silver gene you will get sex-links. White chicks carrying the silver gene usually are gray when they hatch. It isn't breed specific, it's strain specific as some people say the silver gene produces a whiter bird and breed for it. If she doesn't, you will get buff/white combination.
