Breeds of chickens your ancestors had?

I called my mother in Yosemite, and she said that they had Rhode Island Reds, which is news to me, the "black and white speckled hens" I remember; a "few black hens that weren't really the favorites"; the guinea hens, and a very few misc.

So it looks mostly like RIR's, barred rocks or Dominiques, and guinea hens, with some misc.

Not sure what my Great Grandparents had. Mixed flock, most likely. My mother has a bunch of pics, will have to dig through and see if I can find one of the chickens.

My grandfather raised white "leggerns", but that was for a poultry company...used to be Country Pride, then changed to Con Agra. He got out of the business, but I think the name has changed yet again. Pilgrim's Pride, maybe?
