That is the main reason. No point in caponizing something that you'll butcher at 2 months old. Plus cornishX already get bigger and softer than other male birds the same age would

right...but the birds i am raising grow at a normal rate. i can’t harvest at 8 weeks...unless i want to eat tiny chickens

No, and yours would be reasonable to capon since they're a traditional breed

i want to raise normal birds...just to try it it. nothing against costco birds. i want to raise birds that grow at a normal rate.

So far the chicks seem very robust.

This was awhile ago I know, but I wanted to know how they did.
I had two bresses two years back , it was bad luck all the way around. MG
