YAY!!!I have 6 eggs pipped!Still can't believe how good these shipped eggs did!!![]()
There were 7 bresse shipped and 6 developed and went into lockdown. All 6 have pipped!! There were also 4 marans eggs sent that I have no idea if they developed or not (too dark to see into) no pips from those yet.YAY!!!![]()
I don't know how many you put in lockdown, but don't give up on the unhatched ones too soon. My first Bresse hatched on Friday, then the rest of the eggs hatched on Saturday and Sunday. I left the unhatched eggs in the incubator overnight, and at 6 am, I found another pip.! By 7:15 it had zipped and hatched, and is already eating with the others. So three days from the first Bresse to the last one.....
That's great! Don't give up too soon on the Marans. I have heard people say that sometimes they can get a late start hatching. The Marans that I hatched with my Bresse were Sat/Sun hatch with the exception of one that pipped on the wrong end of the egg and died. There were 7 bresse shipped and 6 developed and went into lockdown. All 6 have pipped!! There were also 4 marans eggs sent that I have no idea if they developed or not (too dark to see into) no pips from those yet.
1 just hatched!
I recently hatched some marans/barn mix eggs from my flock and they were the last to pip and hatch too, so I am not too worried about the bcm eggs.
I have a question for you all. I recently hatched some white bresse eggs from a couple fellow BYC'ers, and they all have yellow/white legs. Do they darken as they age? Also I swear 2 have different combs than the rest and one has a LOT of buff coloring on its shoulders. They are about 3 weeks old...I was reading and got the impression they should have hatched with dark legs and they should be solid white....
