I have some regular red home bricks I'm wanting to use as my 'edging' around the bottom of my coop. The walls would be standing on them and there's a dirt floor inside with hardware cloth underneath.

My question is, since there's holes in the bricks, how do you keep it weather/predator proof?

Use the bricks with the holes vertical if your stacking them end to end.

My concern with that since the wood will be sitting on it, then half the holes would be on the outside and half on the inside.

Maybe putting the hardware cloth between the wood and the brick?

Since you appear to be considering setting coop on bricks i would put hardware cloth between coop and brick. I set my coop foundation on sunken posts then trenched the outside edge. I put metal flashing all around and then pour concrete to fill in trench. The floor is dirt inside the coop. Cotton rats tunneled under to bypass all my hardware cloth to access the feeder. I wish i had put hardware cloth on floor since tops and side were done. Then i could have backfilled dirt. I hope this helps.

Ok, that's kind of what I was thinking. But also worried about rain water. But I'm guessingy overhang and gutters will help determine that.

Have you thought about using an apron instead of HC on/under ground in run?
Much safer, easier, long lasting.
Good examples of apron installation, tho I'd not recommend 1/2" HC...go with 14ga 1x2 or 1x1, will hold up much longer and is easier to lay flat.
