what kind of mess to expect indoor coop dust bath?

I'd also be worried that they aren't getting any natural light. That will lead to vitamin D deficiency, which can be especially harmful at this age and lead to stunted growth and life-long health problems.

Are they at least under a UVB lamp and/or being given extra vit D as a dietary supplement?
They are by our patio door and their feed has the D3 and other vitamins in it. They were too small to take them outside, weather was too cold, which is another reason I am pestering hubby to take them to his parents now, they are feathered and snow is not here yet they still have a chance to get acclimated in their garage and then to the flock if we take them there now. I really don’t want the inside for the whole winter.

I've seen you're moving them out today but just for future reference or anyone else reading this - glass blocks UVB rays, so being on the inside of a window or glass door doesn't do much for vitamin D production even if it's sunny. And I'd want to check a feed had enough added vit D even for birds that aren't spending any time outside to be able to make their own, rather than just assuming it does.
