I have a little hen not quite a year old yet that I believe has downs syndrom. Is there such a thing? Her eyes are smaller and she cannot see accurately. Her sense of balance is off. Her color in her face is much lighter than her sisters. You can see the differance in the photo's. The other hens have allways tried to kill her sinse she was little. Now she has grown,(minus the tail feathers that never grew back) and the other chickens still try to peck her face, back, chase her away untill I always give in a coulple hours later after feeling sorry for her, (bloody nose-or hiding in corner) and seperate her once again like I have always. Is she a downs syndrom hen and how do I entro her into this coop? I'm tired of this seperation. I only have 11 hens in my 16x16 foot coop. Bright eyes this winter got no sunshine being seperated. I hope to work with them this summer out in the yard while I garden. Let them run free and range giving bright eyes more room to dodge the bullet so to speak. Maybe they will get a long better with no chicken wire between them. I don't know. Thats why I'm writing you. Help. I love this little bright eyes. She had every feather ripped off of her back and butt when she was introduced to the bigger hens at 12 weeks old. I found her in shock and half dead. I made her a house chicken for 4 weeks till she healed. She lived in a cockateil cage. Watched tv every night and loved her feet rubbed till she fell asleep. She is my baby.
