Is this peer pecking/bullying or a medical condition? The polish babies are just getting their top hat feathers in. Hatch date was 6/19/11. I hadn't noticed any bullying while chicks were indoors in brooder. They now reside outside in a 4 x 4 ft mini-coop enclosed in wire with a hide away shelter inside and a few large sticks on the ground for perching. Any advice is appreciated. I have currently removed the chick and applied ointment to the boo-boo and placed him back indoors pending further information.

Polish chicks are always targets for picking on because of their long tassle feathers on the head. I would keep that little one separate from the others til it heals and if you have to, find one of the others that don't pick on it, and keep them together.

It looks like it got pecked. Watch them and try to find the "bullies" and seperate them from each other
