Hello everyone! :) I have 6 pullets who are currently living in my garage. They just turned 6 weeks old on Monday, and I turned their heat lamp off. Our garage temperature stays around 60 degrees right now here in Maryland. They're currently very happy in my garage, but I'd like to bring them outside soon now that they have most of their feathers. My question is, can I bring my chickens into their new coop now? My worry would be that since they aren't used to outside temperatures that it might not be safe to bring them outside yet. Outside temps have been around 60 degrees in the days and 40's at night recently. Any advice would be highly appreciated. :) I don't want to shock them by exposing them to outside temperatures too fast.

Thank's y'all! :thumbsup

I just moved my 5/6 week olds out to the coop and brought their heat lamp too although I was hesitant because they can be dangerous, I turned it on at night but my older hens were not happy about that so I had to get out of bed and turn it out. the chicks weren’t even huddled under it. Today I set up a heat mat just I case I guess I’ll see in the morning if they even need it my guess is no. I am in north Cali and it’s low 50s to hi 40s right now. Hope that helps ya

If it's 60s during the day (same as your garage temps), I'd put them out during the day and they'll adjust to the cooler night temperatures as nightfall comes. If that makes you nervous, bring them out for a few days in a row and return them to the garage at night, then make the transitions outside full time.

Thank you very much Rose Mary and Henry. I appreciate your advice. I think I'll start bringing them out during the day and then bring them back into the garage at night for the next few days. Thanks!
