I was wondering when can you safely bring your chicks outside? My chicks are only 1 week and 1 day old and I don't expect I could as of yet. I guess too has something to do with the temps.

Thoughts please?
Thanks!

Well - I'm NO expert - but we brought our 1 wk old chicks outside on Thursday - it was 90 degrees that day. Didn't keep them out for too long, but they seemed excited to walk around in the grass and peck at things on the ground!

Do you mean leaving them outside? If they are in a coop, protected from the elements, and with a heat lamp, then at any time they can go out. If just for an outing, then yup, at a week old the hen would have them out and about, and I figure Mother Nature knows more than I do about these things! Though just watch them if going for an outing, and if they start laying down to sleep, and piling on top of each other, it's time to go back in under the lamp. With the hen, she'd let them rest under the warmth of her wings.

Have fun either way!

Yes I meant just for an outing. But I need to wait for a warmer day to do that as it is only 73 here today! Thanks!
