Does anybody use this? Dh just bought me one. It's a bit small for bantams but seems to work well. Interesting concept.

Anybody have experience with it?

I bought one back in May and used it with the turkeys I hatched out over Memorial Day weekend. They seemed to enjoy it and it worked well. I started with the lowest height setting and then had to move it up as they grew rapidly. After they were about 7 or 8 days old they actually began to jump up and sit on top of it, and seemed to enjoy the warmth there.

I think it is a nice, gentle heat and seems less likely to overheat and possibly cause a fire than a lightbulb. It's kind of small, though, so probably only good for a limited number of birds, less than say a dozen max.

I have silkies under it now and actually had to fold up a hand towel and put it underneath to give them some height. They seem to love it though. It's supposed to cover 20 chicks, but I don't know about that! lol
